Ivory Coast striker Georges Griffiths was shot dead in Abidjan while trying to prevent carjackers from stealing his car. The striker had played for Czech giants Sparta Prague and his last club was Hungarian Premier League club Diosgyor who he joined in 2013.

The absence of President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the burial of the late Chief of Army Staff, General Ibrahim Attahiru, on Saturday has attracted criticism from some Nigerians. As previously reported by Naija News, Attahiru and some others died on Friday in a military plane crash which occurred close to the Kaduna Airport.
The remains of their bodies were moved to Abuja on Saturday for burial.

Supreme Court Delivers Final Ruling On Kano Governorship Election
The Supreme Court on Friday affirmed Abba Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) as the duly elected Governor of Kano State. Justice John Okoro, who read the lead judgment, held that the lower court was wrong in its judgment to have deducted 165,616 votes from the vote secured by Governor Yusuf.
According to the Supreme Court, the respondent’s allegation that the 165,616 ballot papers were not from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was not proven.
